EJH Girls Travel to Smith Center

The Ellis Jr. High Girls Basketball team traveled to Smith Center on 11-6-18.  Ellis played the undefeated Lady Red in a very close game from start to finish, losing by six points.  It was a one point margin at the half with a three point deficit going into the third quarter with Smith Center leading 21 to Ellis 18.  The final score was Smith Center 29 to Ellis 23.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Hannah Schiel with 11 points followed by Emily Eck with eight.  Natalie Schumacher added four.  Leading rebounder for Ellis was Schiel with seven followed by Eck with six.  Schumacher and MaKenna Kohl each had five rebounds followed by Kylee Pfeifer with four.  The rebounding totals were close with Smith Center having 28 to Ellis’ 27.

Coach Sheryl Butler said that Ellis fought hard throughout the game but Ellis struggled in the fourth quarter to get shots to fall. 

The Ellis J.V. team lost to Smith Center 41 to 15.  Leading scorer for Ellis was Macy Eberle with eight points.  Myah McCoy, Jennifer Cunningham and Emily James each had two points.  Kaydawn Haag contributed one.  Leading rebounder for Ellis was James with 10 boards.  Braelyn Born had seven rebounds followed by Haag with six.  Cunningham contributed three rebounds and McCoy and Eberle each had one.

In the C-game, Ellis’ Ava Reed and Sydney Redtzke each had two points and Trinity Kohlrus had one.  Leading rebounder was Toccara boyce with four.  Kohlrus, Redetzke and Anna Moore each had three rebounds, Reed had two and Chelsea Herrington had one.  Final score for the C-game was Smith Center 16 to Ellis 5.
