JH Boys Host Trego

On Thursday the young Railers battled the Eagles from Wakeeney.  In the first game of the night it was Wakeeney winning by one point, Wakeeney 25 and Ellis 24. Scoring for the JV were Talen Roland 6, Dashaun Jones 4, Quinton Shepard 4, Carson Fisher 4, Aiden Amrein 2, Logan Russell 2,  and Austin Carroll 2.  Alex McGuire grabbed 7 rebounds, Roland 3, Amrein 3, and Shepard 3.

In the C team game, which was only one half of a game ended up in a tie, Ellis 8 and Wakeeney 8.  Leading scorer for the C team was Logan Russell with 6 points and Dalton North added 2.  Russell grabbed 6 rebounds, Austin Carroll 3, and North 3.

The Ellis Varsity defeated Wakeeney in the final game of the night by a score of Ellis 36 and Wakeeney 28.  Jarrett Mader led all scorers with 14 points, Dakota Metzler 8, Carson North 6, Rex Johnson 4, and Quinton Shepard 4.  North grabbed a season high rebounds with 13 followed by Shepard with 7, Johnson 2, and Metzler 2.  The young Railers got off to a very slow start as Wakeeney went 3 for 3 from the field and held an eight point early lead.  At the end of the quarter Ellis trailed by eight points.  By the end of the half Ellis had cut the lead to 7 points.  The varsity came out the final two quarters and outscored the Eagles by 15 points to seal the victory.  “Our kids played with a lot of heart and a lot of intensity on defense the second half.  We finally had some shots fall .  They never gave up and fought to the end stated Coach Wolf.
