JH Boys Sweep Smith Center

The Junior High boys swept the Smith Center Redmen last Tuesday.  In the first game it was the Junior varsity defeating Smith Center by a score of Ellis 30 and Smith Center 17.  Scoring for Ellis were Carson Fisher 12, Quinton Shepard 6, Dayshaun Jones 4, Aiden Amrein 2, Jayden Lehman 2, Alex McGuire 2, and William Crawford 2.  Shepard grabbed 6 rebounds, Jones 5, and McGuire 2.

The C team won by a score of Ellis 16 and Smith Center 14.  William Crawford scored 8 points, Logan Russell 2, Austin Carroll 2, Dalton North 2, and Talen Roland 2.  Bryson Lyman had 14 rebounds, Carroll 7, Russell 5, North 4, and Crawford 2.

The varsity came out with a tight victory by outscoring Smith Center by a score of Ellis 41 and Smith Center 35.  Jarrett Mader led in scoring with 17 points, Carson North 14, Dakota Metzler 6, Aiden Amrein 2, and Quinton Shepard 2.  North grabbed 8 rebounds while Shepard had 6.  Ellis led at halftime by 11 points and was leading at the end of the third quarter by 16.  Smith Center started putting pressure on and had cut the score to only 2 points.  The young Railers held on for a close win.  “We need to take care of the ball and not get rattled as that led to turnovers and points by Smith Center.  We played very well for the first three quarters of the game” stated Coach Wolf.
