EJH Girls Finish Up Basketball Season

Ellis Jr. High girls basketball traveled north to Norton on Dec. 14th to take on the Bluejays. Ellis was ahead by one at the end of the first quarter but had to play from behind for the rest of the half as Norton’s inside scored 15 points underneath while Ellis could only come up with four points going into halftime behind 21 to 11. Ellis came back in the second half out-scoring Norton by six but overall came up short at the end of the game losing to Norton by four, 36 to 32. Leading scorer for Ellis was Isabella Eck with 19, Natalee North had eight, Alyssa Rome had three and Addison Kohl added two. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Brooke Starns with 11 followed by Natalee North with seven. Kohl had four boards, Eck had three and Rome added two. Ellis out-rebounded Norton 27 to 14. In the J.V. contest, the game was tight throughout, going into halftime Norton 6 Ellis 5. Ellis began to pull away a little in the third quarter and finally Ellis coming out the winner 15 to 10. Leading scorer for Ellis was Avery Boydston with six. Gracelynn Hamel and Leah Reed each had two and Grace Brull added a free-throw for one. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Boydston with five followed by Reed and Raegan Jimenez each with four. Brull, Hamel and Kaycee Cranwell each had two and Payten Burd added one. In the C-team contest, Ellis had wide-spread scoring throughout the game beating Norton 22 to 6. Leading scorer for Ellis was Kia Mader with six. Sienna Schmidt, Burd and Gracie Ball each had four points. Jordyn Herrington and Josephine DePuy each had two. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Mader with 13. Ball, and DePuy each had five boards. Schmidt and Hamel each had three followed by Tayler Schmidt and Burd each with two.

The Ellis Jr. High girls basketball team played their final games on Dec.17th vs. the Smith Center Lady Red. In the varsity contest, Ellis dominated the game, leading at the half 25 to 10. Ellis continued to build on their lead in the second half allowing Smith Center to score seven points vs. Ellis scoring an additional 24. Due to the point spread, the running clock was set in the fourth quarter with Ellis winning the contest 49 to 17. Leading scorer for Ellis was Isabella Eck with 21 points, Addison Kohl had 11 followed by Natalee North with 10 and Alyssa Rome had seven. Leading rebounder for Ellis was North with eight. Rome and Brooke Starns each had six, Kohl had three and Eck and Leah Reed each had one. Ellis led in rebounding with 25 to nine for Smith Center. Season totals for varsity: Eck had 149 points and 30 rebounds; North 107 points and 98 rebounds; Kohl 39 points and 33 rebounds; Rome 17 points and 34 rebounds and Starns four points and 77 rebounds. The J.V. contest was a closer contest throughout. Only two quarters were played due to low number of players for Smith Center. The final score was 13 to12 with Smith Center sneaking by for the win. Leading scorer for Ellis was Raegan Jiminez with eight and Grace Brull and Avery Boydston each had two. Leading rebounder was Boydston with seven. Kaycee Cranwell and Reed each had two followed by Jiminez with one. Smith Center was unable to play a C-game so Ellis held an inter-squad scrimmage. Leading scorer was Gracelynn Hamel with six. Jiminez, Payten Burd and Reed each had four. Leading rebounder was Hamel with seven, Jiminez had four and Reed, Kia Mader, Tayler Schmidt and Jordyn Herrington each had two. Auna Koser, Gracie Ball, Josephine DePuy, and Burd each had one. Season totals for J.V./C: Jiminez 45 points and 30 rebounds; Burd 38 points and 17 rebounds; Boydston 27 points and 48 rebounds; Hamel 27 points and 47 rebounds; Reed 23 points and 26 rebounds; Sienna Schmidt 22 points and 8 rebounds; Brull 16 points and 6 rebounds; Mader 13 points and 40 rebounds; Ball 10 points and 14 rebounds; Cranwell nine points and 34 rebounds; Herrington 4 points and 14 rebounds; Tayler Schmidt 2 points and 12 rebounds; DePuy 18 rebounds and Koser had 5 rebounds.
