EJH Girls Basketball Travels to Trego

The Ellis Jr. High school girls basketball team traveled the short distance to Trego to take on the Trego Eagles.  The varsity came away with a win, with Ellis 23 to Trego 18.  In the varsity game, Ellis led throughout the game but continued to allow Trego to stay within reach due to turnovers mostly of bad passes.  Coach Sheryl Butler said, “We continue to need to work on our passes and we need to watch in not forcing the ball either by driving into double and triple teams or forcing passes when we need to be more patient.  We broke their press very well and were able to use two different press breaks very effectively.  I was proud of the girls to be able to switch and adjust as needed”Leading scorer for Ellis was Isabella Eck with nine points followed by Kylee Pfeifer with five.  Macy Eberle had four point, Kaydawn Haag had three and Natalee North had two.  Leading rebounder for Ellis was Haag with 10 boards followed by Pfeifer with nine.  Emily James and North each had five boards and Braelyn Born had four with Eck having three.Ellis lost the J.V. game.  Ellis was ahead in the first quarter played but Trego outscored Ellis in the remaining quarters played.  Trego won the contest 13 to Ellis 8.Scorers for Ellis were Jennifer Cunningham with four points and Alyssa Rome and Addison Kohl each with two.  Leading rebounder for Ellis was North with eight boards.  Rome, Brooke Starns and Cunningham each had four rebounds.  Sydney Redetzke had three boards and Kohl had two.
