The Ellis Jr. High School Girls Basketball Team Traveled to Phillipsburg

The Ellis Jr. High school girls basketball team traveled to Phillipsburg on Nov. 7th for their first away game of the season. Ellis came away losing all three contests played.

In the varsity game, Phillipsburg played a pressure full-court defense throughout most of the contest. The Panthers led the Railers 14 to five at the half. In the second half, Ellis worked more at reading passes creating turnovers for Phillipsburg and at one point in the game, Ellis trailed by six making a comeback run. Ellis came up short in the end losing by seven, 29 to 22.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Natalee North with 12 points. Isabella Eck contributed four points. Kylee Pfeifer, Macy Eberle and Emily James each had two points. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Kaydawn Haag with 12 followed by Pfeifer with 11 and Braelyn Born with 10. Eck had seven boards and North had five. Emily James and Jennifer Cunningham each had three boards and Eberle had two. Ellis had a total of 53 rebounds to Phillipsburg’s 27.

In the junior varsity game, Ellis kept the score tight in the first quarter leading by one point. By the half, however, Phillipsburg led 15 to four. The final score was Phillipsburg 29 to Ellis eight.

Scorers for Ellis was Cunningham and North each with four points. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Sydney Redetzke with 11, Kaycee Cranwell had seven followed by North with six. Alyssa Rome and Cunningham each had three boards, Addison Kohl had two and Brooke Starns had one.
