JH Lady Railers Host Victoria

The Ellis Jr. High girls basketball team hosted Victoria on Dec. 18th.  In the varsity contest, the undefeated Victoria team came out with an intense full court press taking the lead at the first quarter eight to two.  Ellis continued to struggle with getting shots with a low score of four at the half to Victoria's 22.  Victoria continued to build their lead in the third quarter and Ellis began to get into some foul trouble.  Ellis had 17 fouls called compared to Victoria's eight bringing Victoria to the line to shoot 25 free throws compared to Ellis having two shots at the line.  The final score of the contest was Ellis 17 to Victoria 49.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Emily Eck with 10.  Haley Schmidt had three and Maddy Guffey and Michelle Gottschalk each had two.  Leading rebounder for Ellis was Guffey with six followed by Schmidt with five.  Treynce had three boards, Gottschalk had two and Lakyn Fischer and Eck each had one.

In the J.V. contest, Ellis took the lead in the first quarter eight to five.  Ellis went into the half 12 to seven.  The third quarter was kept fairly even with Ellis leading 18 to 12.  Final score of the contest was Ellis 30 to Victoria 19.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Hannah Schiel with twelve.  Natalie Schumacher had eight points followed by Gottschalk with six.  MaKenna Kohl and Harlie Bittel each had two.  Leading rebounder for Ellis was Kohl with seven followed by Schumacher with six.  Madison Gottschalk had five boards, Myah McCoy had four and Bittel had one.
