Golf at TMP

On Monday, May 1st, EHS golf competed at TMP. Chase Hudson placed 11th, Cade Lewis placed 35th, Zachary Cox placed 47th, Holden Lyman placed 63rd, and the team placed 7th overall.

Coach's Comments:

I am glad that we were able to get this tournament in. Several schools such as Trego, Norton, Colby, and Holcomb were not able to attend because of the blizzard that hit this past weekend. Some parts of the state received close to 2’ of snow with power out in many locations. We were fortunate to only receive about 3” of snow in Ellis and mostly rain in Hays. The course was soggy but playable. Chase continues to play well and with just a few weeks left in the season this is a good sign. He was one shot out of the medals today in a tournament where Hays High typically brings their JV. They played their top 14 golfers and not only easily won the team competition but also brought home 7 of the top 10 medals. The exciting thing for Chase is that he was 2nd amongst 321A golfers and 1st amongst 2A golfers. He beat some top players in our region and this confidence will carry him through the next couple of weeks. Cade had a rough front but stepped it up on the back and nearly snuck in under 100. He continues to improve and I have confidence that he will play well on the next couple of courses on our schedule. Zach had a decent day as well and continues to improve as does Holden who had a rough day but hit some good shots and is getting better each week. Tabasco was not able to attend today. We continue to get better as a team and I look forward to where we are at after the next couple of tournaments. We have a tough regional but I still am confident that we can get a couple of golfers into the state tournament. Next action is at Hill City on Friday May 5.
