Lady Railers Compete at MCL Tournament

On Thursday, October 12th the Lady Railer volleyball team traveled to Wakeeney to compete in their first two games of the league tournment. In their pool were Wakeeney, Plainville, Smith Center, and Hill City. The Railers first went up against the Plainville Cardinals. The first set was an intense compettiton with the score going back and forth between the two teams, but the Railers could not pull it out. The score to the first set was 23-25. The next set was less intense with the Railers not coming out on top with a score of 9-25. They next took on the Smith Center Lady Red. Between the two sets the Railers fought hard, but did not come out with the win with scores of 9-25 and 10-25. With those two games, the Railers wrapped up their night.

The team returned to Wakeeney on Saturday, October 14th to take on the other two teams in their pool, Hill City and Wakeeney. They started off facing the Lady Ringnecks. Both matches were intense battles between the teams, with the Railers coming back from being behind 14-24 at one point in the second set of the matach. They ended up losing both sets with scores of 19-25 and 24-26. The final game for the Railers would be against long-time rivals, the Trego Eagles. Both matches ended up in a loss for the Railers with scores of 18-25 and 13-25. The Lady Railers will next play in their Sub-State tournment in Wakeeney on Saturday, October 21st.
