Varsity Tournament in LaCrosse

On Saturday, September 9th, the Lady Railer varsity volleyball team went to LaCrosse to participate in the annual tournament held there. The team took on the Plainville Cardinals for the first game of the day. The team fought hard for both sets, but came up short both times with scores 21-25 and 10-25. Game highs were 3 ace serves for Rylee Werth, 3 kills for Abby Burton, 7 assissts for Cassie Waldschimdt, 4 perfect receptions for Burton, 3 blocks for Kaylyn Foster, and 3 digs for both Burton and Waldschmidt. The team next took on the home team, the LaCrosse Leopards. Both of the sets were intense with points being scored back and fourth, but the Railers fell short both sets with scores of 19-25 and 24-26. The game highs for this game were 3 ace serves for Werth, 7 kills for Foster, 14 assissts for Waldschmidt, 7 perfect receptions for Grace Eck, 5 blocks for both Foster and Burton, and 8 digs for Werth. The last game of the day was played against the Victoria Knights. Both sets were close with both teams scoring on and off, but the Lady Railers were not able to pull out the win. The scores for the sets were 23-25 and 17-25. Game highs were 3 ace serves for Foster, 5 kills for Foster, 8 assissts for Waldschmidt, 2 perfect receptions for Eck and Crawford, 4 blocks for Burton and Foster, and 9 digs for Crawford.

The Lady Railers will next play on Tuesday, September 12th at Smith Center in a quad against TMP, Phillipsburg, and Smith Center.
