Railers Knock Off Host Plainville

On Thursday, March 2, the Railers traveled to Plainville to battle the host of the Sub State Tournament, the Plainville Cardianls. These two teams met up earlier and the final score was 61-45 in favor of Plainville. The Railers are trying to get revenge as Plainville is trying to protect their home court. Both teams came out ready to go and fired up. Ellis jumped out ahead by about six but Plainville kept it close battling hard in the paint. The first quarter ended 13-10 in favor of Ellis. Plainville came out quick and jumped off to a little lead but Ellis quickly reclaimed it. The two teams battled until Ellis was able to build a five point lead going into halftime. The score was 28-23 to start the third, but Plainville was determined to take over. Plainville went on a 8-1 run to take the lead. Ellis chipped away at the lead and got the score all even with about a minute to go in the third, but by the time the third ended Plainville was up by 3. The score being 39-36. This was gut check time for both teams. The crowd was going crazy to start the fourth and it was time to see what team wanted it more. The game ends up tied at 41 until easton hits a three with five minutes to go. Later with the game tied Easton get a put back and one to put Ellis up by three. With about thirty seconds to play Plainville fouls Derek. Derek hits the two clutch free throws to put Ellis up by four. Plainville comes down and draws the foul but only gets one point. This time Plainville doesn't fould in time and Geoffrey Sonseon gets a wide open layup to put Ellis up by five. Plainville hits a three to cut it back to two but right after Easton burries two more clutch free throws to ice the game. Ellis wins 56-52 and will play Hoxie in the championship game at 7:30 on Saturday, March 4.
