In the area of instructional technology, Ellis USD 388 continues to be at the forefront of technology availability and use by its staff and students.  Instructional improvement and curriculum development is a PreK-12 cooperative effort.  Teachers utilize a web-based curriculum mapping program to align core curriculum and instruction to state standards and indicators.

The district supports over 300 laptop computers with a wireless networked system connecting all buildings.  Washington Grade School utilizes laptops on mobile carts for ease of access while every Ellis High School student has a school-issued laptop for their personal use.  All teachers and administrators also have a laptop computer.  Every classroom in the district is equipped with a mounted LCD projector with teacher access to SMART boards and tablets for interactive instructional technology classroom utilization.

Annual state assessment scores reflect a strong commitment to excellence by teachers and students.  Over the course of the last three years, the district has received grade-level Standard of Excellence awards from the Kansas State Department of Education in 30 of 43 tested areas.

Student ACT scores over the last five years average a composite score over 22, higher than both the state and national averages.  Nearly 85% of Ellis High School graduates go on to pursue a post-secondary education and 3 out of 4 of those receive scholarships to do so.
